Mako Moveset: Chase and Ring-Outs

Why guides say Maki is labeled Mako, and how Phase Slam and Unleash were reported to work.

Players call this the Maki moveset. Reports of the character panel and the equip message use Mako. Treat them as one character. An August 10, 2026 gameplay report listed 4,500 Yen, with Swing on M1, Dash on Q, Phase Slam on E, and Unleash on R.

Confirm the equip

Search the lobby for Mako, not a second Maki entry. Read the live cost before you act on 4,500. After you select it, respawn if needed. Success looks like an ability bar with Swing, Dash, Phase Slam, and Unleash.

What the moves were reported to do

Swing is a close sword hit used to test range. Dash is the shared movement tool. Phase Slam was reported as a short teleport toward the nearest player on flat ground, not a free aim. It did not reliably climb stairs in that test. Unleash was a steerable spin that could push someone and resist knockback during the animation. An exact damage total from that August test is too patch-sensitive to plan around.

A safe sequence

  1. Fight near the outside of the center, on the same level as the target, not on the shoreline.
  2. Check that the weakened player is actually the nearest person.
  3. Phase Slam in, confirm with Swing, then Unleash only if the water is behind them and not behind you.
  4. If another player arrives, Dash toward the center and drop the sequence.

Do not use Phase Slam as an escape. It sends you toward a player. When you are low, leave with Dash or normal movement.

Who should buy it

Mako fits players who already pick a weak target and watch the edge. It is a poor first expensive goal if you lose track of who is closest or you fight with the water at your back. Compare it with Diyo if you want simpler close pressure, and with Ultra Instinct if you want a reported ranged heavy move. None of those roles makes the August price permanent.
